At evosolutions, our "products" are solutions. This morning, we were meeting to review the status of a web application that we are re-writing from PHP to a JAVA platform. Not only do we want to stabilize the application with JAVA because it's becoming a little monster of an app, but we are adding enhancements to make it more user-friendly for our customer to manage and we'd like to remarket it as a stand alone product. During our meeting, one of the inner workings of the application we were discussing I thought was so cool, and currently functioning, that I thought it was something that needed to be shared with the world (or whoever is reading my blog). Part of the new application is a common interface that can service payment processing with several merchant gateways from multiple clients or applications. What does this mean to the average Joe (or Jane)? Well, no matter how many merchant gateways (i.e. PayPal or Authorize.net) a proprieter uses, the transaction format on the client side is the same. This integration allows the proprietors to easily switch out payment gateways at any time by simply referencing the new account. That's one thing that I think makes what we do so cool for businesses who need to adapt to the changing market place and conditions. This tool gives them flexibility, their clients flexibility. It's a good thing - like the little nougaty center of a great piece of candy. Very fitting for Valentine's Day! (look how I tied that together! Impressive!) |
