Not too long ago, we were able to help one of our customers with their order acknowledgment process. They were receiving orders via email, putting that information into one of their systems, running a batch file process at night, then going through some internal processing before they could finally generate an acknowledgment back to their customer. Phew! This was taking between 24 and 48 hours.

In very simple terms (because that's the way I think), we installed an interface (enterprise service bus) to pull details from the email directly and generate an acknowledgment in 7 seconds. We like to share this example as one of our success stories. It's pretty easy to understand what we did, and very easy to see how it impacted our customer's business. The company did not eliminate a position because of this change, but it does allow some very key people in their organization to spend their time doing more value-added activities instead of re-entering data from one system to another.

We wouldn't say that what we do is rocket science, but we do help our customers discover little changes that can be made to a business process that can have a big impact.
